Ok. Rural California smells like fertilizer, cow shit, methane from dairy farms. But we put up with this so that you can have your latte's and ice cream and milk and butter, and sour cream, and whipping cream, etc. You reap from the benefits from the poop. Just think how your life would be affected if it weren't for the agricultural products that come from the San Joaquin valley.

They think that everybody wants to live the kind of life that L.A. offers, i.e. parties, clubs,....etc. They put up with the traffic and high density living and the high cost of housing and think that everyone else doesn't matter. And having actually talked to this man I know that he isn't pissed that we're living here. But I can always just ask him the next time him and his wife invite me over for dinner. I can't believe that TYT would dis the San Joaquin Valley. Where do you think all of your fresh produce comes from during the season? Where do you think L.A. gets some of it's water that farmers do not have access to grow their crops. We literally have NOWHERE else to live because there aren't any available housing units on campus to accommodate for the growing number of incoming students per year. Apartments are further than these so-called mansions and they cost twice as much for half the space. Get your ass out to Merced first. My cousin and his friends are renting out a 4,800 sq. ft. "mansion" for about $225 each (six people in total). Once you factor in all the bills, the total comes out to $260 each per month. Also, to what Ana Kasparian said about how living in these mansions will be the nicest we'll ever live in, you're wrong. UC Merced is still an up and coming UC. We're already ranked as the greenest campus in the nation. Our future has potential. Don't make it sound like we're going to be unsuccessful.

I've been to UC Merced, I went around the campus and the small town but I didn't see any of these so called "Mansions." Housing is really cheap there for sure however you can't call them mansions...
