No they are not. How can they earn a living if they can not leave their monastery? According to Buddhism rules, monks should earn their living primarily by begging. They never beg in their own monasteries, instead they beg on the streets. If you visit Thailand you'll see tons of monks begging for food. They think it's a virtue. Of course monks in many countries don't beg that much these days, but there are definitely no restraints on leaving the monastery.

My apologies, i wasn't in the greatest mood the other day. Regardless, I just can't see why UFC or MMA have to be mentioned while watching a performance piece. These guys are not trained fighters, they train to perform stunts and tour the world. Would you bring up MMA while watching a documentary on methane gas?. On that note "MMA" is an inaccurate term these days. Most of these fighters, though from various backgrounds train in "MMA", not 2 or 3 disciplines. "MMA" is it's own system now.
