I stayed by her side for 5 years through some of the hardest things ive ever seen a person go through, i even stood by her as she was dating another man. but now its my time. to show her how i really feel about her. to hold her the way i always wanted too. to kiss her soft lips. shes mine. shes my dandy sandy.

I met my Sandy in the summer of 1967. I lived in Los Angeles, she in Illinois. She came to visit her cousin, who was my neighbor. I was a teenager and she was one of those girls who seems to come in the summer of every boys dreams. I was hopelessly smitten: So cute, so feminine, so ethereal. When the summer ended, she returned to her home in Illinois. I've not seen her since, but she always has and always will remain a fixture in my heart. I love you, Sandy....wherever you are.

Sandy use to be my favorite girls song and wasn't uncommon when i graduated from high school in 1965. Now it seems it is a name no longer used much and that's a shame ~ never had a Sandy myself but always thought it would be cool to have a girl named Sandy.

Never dated or even knew any Sandys, but this is one of my all time favorite songs. Brings back memories of innocence and growing up in Atlanta listening to WQXI.

The summer of 1965 is when I first heard this song on am radio, I was only 9 years old&this song has stayed in my mind all those years. Only came across it on you-tube recently. I did not know who wrote&sang it all these years. Recently found the chords&words on-line&now I can play&sing it on the guitar.

My sandy was the first girl i dated and left me for a guy named Douglas Macarthur (football jock aka "the general")....she broke up with him and married some loser electrician and had her face mauled by their dog as she slept (was either a rottweiller or pit pull).......guess she should have stuck with me!....aaaahahahaha.

Actually, Ronnie had a Nashville studio band perform and record his self penned GTO, and "the Daytona's" were created to represent a band and allow a band (Ronnie & Daytona's) to travel and perform the song...and make money.
