I didn't think Vaughn was miscast at all. Lopez was but she didn't have to do too much so it's okay. It's a fine movie. Vaughn is now type cast in those comedic roles but before that in the 90s he was quite the serious dramatic actor, and hot to boot.....but then he decides to get fat....oh well.

A movie like this isn't supposed to have an extensive plot. There's the general set up, and then after that how things progress visually and your concern for the characters are what matters. It's like the case of ADHD that it's supposed to be. Creativity is the name of the game, as long as the general plot takes you to a conclusion, which it does here.

DarkPask, I disagree. Any good film can be nitpicked at. & I hope to hell u wouldn't pick Jolie for this lead. Lol, she'd have ruined it.

IMO, it's not as complex, deep or smart as it thing it is. All in all, is a very pretentious movie.
Don't get me wrong. I love it and the problems that it had where nothing that couldn't have been solved with some minor touches to the script and casting somebody else instead of Lopez (still this is her best movie IMO).
The visual design is gorgeous and mixes seamlessly surrealism, grittiness, gore and beauty.
Style over substance... but what a style!!!

I am so looking forward to Tarsems take on Snow white (forget Immortals looks like a B version of 300). With the help of the highly talented Eiko Ishioka whose amazing costumes has graced movies like Dracula, The Cell and The Fall I think Snow white will be a visually stunning.

the movie is inspired by lot of artists
this scene is is based on the painting "Dawn" by Norwegian painter Odd Nerdrum.
the horse scene is inspired by Damien Hirst (the installation "Some Comfort Gained from the Acceptance of the Inherent Lies in Everything").
The scene when Catherine Deane is chasing Carl through a stone hallway, right before she enters the room with the horse, is based on a painting by H.R. Giger called "Schacht".

Hm... I've always considered this movie to be in my top ten favorites. Do people really think it's stupid?
I guess I just like the dream symbolism of it. It seems like a good combination of the movies "Seven" and "The Matrix".

she would not have had anything to do with this movie if it hadn't been for Tarsems direction and creative insight, also she calloborates with him clearly because they share the same piece of mind.

This film is very interesting, original and soooooo underrated. Jennifer Lopez is great actress no matter what. Visual effects reminded me of Madonna's 'Bedtime Story' (video) a little bit. Anyway, The Cell is one of the most overlooked Sci-Fi films of the 2000's (along with Supernova, Mission to Mars, Evolution, Ultraviolet, Equilibrium, Cube 2, Alien Lockdown, Serenity, Signs, Hulk, Avatar (2004), Ghosts of Mars, A Sound of Thunder)
