In the live-action movie, Madeline was saying, "Take that Pepito, and that!" just before she fell into the river. The filmmakers obviously got "Madeline's Rescue" and "Madeline and the Bad Hat" out of order while combining all the well-known Madeline stories into one movie.

Miss Clavel was also there to make sure it would never happen again. Everytime Madeline would climb on the bridge and sing "I'm Madeline" Miss Clavel was always there to make catch her and she would say, "Oh Madeline."
