Springsteen's vivid cinematic take on boardwalk days gone by, accompanied by Danny Federici's melancholy accordion. The elegiac strains of Sandy evoke a yearning for bittersweet days of youth against the backdrop of penny arcades, carnival rides and fireworks at the Jersey shore.

God how i love his world weary voice, spent on incandescent lyrics and creating an unforgettable inimtable soundtrack to the years of our lives
for all the gypsy angels, the hotrod angels, but not for the desolation angels, because this music is sublime

@TMJKris I listened to that Agora broadcast in Chicago (WXRT no doubt), then saw the Uptown Theater show in Chi. soon after. I've seen some amazing concerts in my life, including Bruce 7 times ( wish it was 70 or maybe 700 times) but never, NEVER have seen a greater show than that one. Played at least four hours including all the encores and when it was finally over, and they were clearing the stage, the entire crowd ( the Uptown held 3 or 4 thousand I think ) was still hollering for more

@Wamz1978 & godhelpme2009 ......guitar playing has many elements to it, technical elements are undoubtedly and part of it, but one part that seems to be thrown to the wind these days is Emotion. im sure mettalica fans will hunt me down but i belive a good example of a guitarist with skill but no soul is kirk hammet, he is far too mechanic.

~p.s. Springsteen & Coltrane share a birthday. I know this becasue they are 2 of my all time favorite musicians. They have both changed my life with their music.

@Wamz1978,(cont.) also heard over & over by the best players is that it's not about playing lots of notes as much as knowing what & when NOT to play.I totally agree that Nils is EXTRAORDINARY. But you totally underestimate Bruce as a musician & the range of music he can play very well, but he did choose to emphasize songwriting in a popular genre above pursuing & displaying instrumental virtuosity. He can go "all over (most of) the map" as a player & do it well. Or at least he used to be able to

...and then you're a hypocrite rejecting the value of popular appeal as a measure(which i agree with on most counts) , but then put forth the measure of "who can play 'Giant Steps' backwards & forwards". There are PLENTY of technically accomplished players who not capable of "speaking" to people with the 'music' they make. How often have U read the best players say 1 person can play 1000 notes well & not be half the musician as the person who plays a few notes, but they are perfect

, you sound like an idiot-"Playing the guiitar is no different than pitching... it is a measurable technichal skill with elements of art." An educated idiot, a closed minded, full of him/herself intellectual. I know my calling you an idiot makes me sound stupid & dismissible AND I am sure you can sound quite intelligent while making your point BUT none of that changes how idiotic your comment about measuring guitar playing.
