SquareCrystal is right, Buddhism is a form of philosophy more than anything, it is to achieve enlightenment. Anybody can become Buddhist, but the monks simply hone the body and mind. Real monks anyway, I doubt many people have that kind of dedication.

I do not start fights unless I am put into a situation where I must to defend myself. I would love to and hope to go to China someday, I find these sort of things to be fascinating if anything. The fact of the matter is, fights are sudden, and these monks are allowed time to prepare since they know what is coming beforehand. In a real fight, you are not going to be given 2-3 minutes in advance, once it starts it is on.
