one of the best things about this scene is the fact that lily von shtupp sings horribly! but the truth is, madeline kahn has a phenomenal voice and sings like a lark. comedic acting is the hardest to do right....I LOVE YOU MADELINE KAHN!!!!

Compare Madeline Kahn's loose "Dietrich" performance here to the uptight persona she played in "What's Up, Doc?" --the movie that made her famous. Yet that range is NOTHING compared to her rendition of "Glitter and Be Gay," a very difficult operatic soprano solo that be seen here on You Tube (done by M. Kahn). This Leonard Bernstein masterpiece is not only technically difficult but requres strong comedy skills also.
